After Hurricane Lothar in 1999 this area was simply left in its post-storm state. Hence the trail weaves its way over – and under – trees toppled by the hurricane-force winds. Here, visitors can sense the sheer power of nature and the direction in which the National Park may one day develop. The four-and-a-half kilometre Wilderness Trail, established as a joint project between the Nature Park and the municipality of Baden-Baden, is therefore a very special experience. Today it is the National Park Administration that looks after this popular trail and also offers guided tours around it.

The special experience! The power of nature close up.

The Wilderness trail leads you through the fallen trees of storm Lothar or even sometimes under them. Different stations allow for rest and relaxation. Look at how nature has evolved since the storm - and let yourself be surprised.
