Rules for National Park visitors

We are delighted that you are interested in discovering the Black Forest National Park and wish you a very warm welcome. Due to the high number of visitors in the park, however, it is necessary for a number of rules to be observed. Only then can a successful partnership between nature and humans exist and an undisturbed wildlife experience achieved. Further details can be gleaned from the National Park Act .

Entering the National Park

As a matter of principle, entering the National Park is free of charge to everyone. Only in the core zone must the marked paths be uses, however, we kindly ask you to keep to the paths throughout the entire National Park thus helping the wild animals not to feel threatened or disturbed in their own habitats. Dogs are therefore not allowed to run freely in the National Park and are to be kept on a lead. Bathing in or navigating any bodies of water is also forbidden. Please respect nature and the countryside and show consideration for the wild animals and plants. Please do not remove any plants or parts of plants, such as berries, as it disturbs the animals that live here. The species protection provisions of the Federal Nature Conservation Act also apply in the National Park. The catching, injuring or killing of animals is prohibited and so too is the feeding of animals. Angling and fishing in the National Park is also forbidden.

The National Park should be kept tidy for all its inhabitants as well as its visitors. Please do not leave any litter. Waste such as fruit and food scraps influence nature due to the fertilising effect they generate. Many of the rare plant species are suited to a lack of nutrients and in fertilised areas would be displaced by more flexible species that can survive virtually anywhere.

Mushrooms and fruits may only be collected in the National Park’s designated areas in small quantities and for your own personal use. Please inform yourself of where these areas are at one the National Park’s information points.

To ensure that other recreation seekers can also enjoy the National Park, we kindly ask you to be considerate of others.
