Working in the National Park
In addition to the full-time employees, the National Park’s major objective of ‘leaving nature to nature’ is also supported by numerous voluntary workers and freelancers. It is quite possible therefore that at weekends you will encounter a voluntary ranger in the park conducting his monitoring duties, or a voluntary helper will provide you with information at the National Park Centre in Ruhestein. All of our volunteers receive training so that correct and competent information can always be expected. In addition to basic training, all employees, including volunteers, attend regular training courses thus ensuring that they are continually kept up to date with the latest events and developments in the National Park.
A training programme for new volunteers is currently taking place. This is expected to continue in 2017, too. An appropriate announcement will be made in the spring of 2017. We kindly ask those interested, however, to refrain from sending us an application beforehand as we are unable to maintain a waiting list due to the large number of enquiries.
